John Nathan is a theatre critic for the Jewish Chronicle and The Independent. He is the son of theatre critic David Nathan. In a seminal article in 2015, he argued that Jewish directors have decisively influenced the first decades of the 21st century : “If British theatre has had a golden era over the past dozen or so years you can pretty much put it down to the artistic directors of three of the country’s most important producing houses: Nicholas Hytner at the National Theatre, Dominic Cooke at the Royal Court, and David Lan at the Young Vic.” (“Visionary behind the shock of the Young Vic”, Jewish Chronicle, 20 April 2015)
