David Nathan (1926-2001) was a Manchester-born theatre critic for the Daily Herald and The Jewish Chronicle. He was also a biographer and contributed to the influential satirical programme That Was the Week That Was since 1962, collaborating with playwright Dennis Potter. From 1985 to 1991 Nathan was deputy editor of The Jewish Chronicle.

He is the father of theatre critic John Nathan.
