Peter Morgan CBE, whose father, Arthur Morgenthau, fled Nazi-Germany for London in 1933, is known for his visions of Englishness (The Queen 2006, The Special Relationship 2010, The Audience 2013, The Crown, 2016) and biographical speculation (Frost/Nixon 2006, Bohemian Rhapsody 2018). In 2010, Morgan began writing the screenplay for Bohemian Rhapsody, a biopic about Freddie Mercury, which was released in 2018 and won several awards. Morgan was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to drama. Most recently, Morgan was creater and show runner of The Crown (Netflix, 2016-2023) and his play, The Patriots (2022), had a successful West End run and will transfer to Boadway in April 2024.
