Suzette Coon is a British playwright and screenwriter. Her plays include Our Children Will Be Next (2013), performed at Theatre503, The Sting (2017), which was produced at Southwark Playhouse and the Arcola Theatre, and Superman & Me (2016), which was staged at The King’s Head Theatre. Coon was longlisted for the 2016 Old Vic 12 Playwrights Prize. Her plays have been performed at the Old Red Lion Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Tristan Bates Theatre, Watford Palace Youth Theatre, and the Bread & Roses Theatre Company. Coon also works as a director and has directed SR Khan’s BF4EVA, much? at Southwark Playhouse, Eva Edo’s Looked After Children for Women at RADA and Child Z by BBC Writers Prize Winner Sarah Hehir.
As the first and only Hassidic Jewish Surfing film, Coon’s feature Moshe Makes Waves was optioned by Frank Mannion of Princess Productions. Coon was also one of the initial writers of the ITV soap Night & Day. Stretch Marks is Coon’s most recent work, a series focusing on the lives of an ante-natal group. In addition to her writing, Coon is artistic director of the theatre company Little Pieces of Gold. The company has produced the plays of numerous writers and has collaborated with many directors and performers.
