Robert Messik is a writer for theatre, film, television, and radio. He is director of Drama at an international school and has expertise in teaching and directing drama both curricular and non-curricular. His first publicly performed play in 1999 was an adaptation of Israel Zangwill‘s novel The King of Schnorrers for Labyrinth Theatre Company. Other plays include Pineapple (2006), an original stage published by Samuel French, as well as an adaptation of Tartuffe (2009). He wrote and directed the educational documentary Reintroducing Israel Zangwill. Robert Messik also adapted Israel Zangwill’s locked door mystery, The Big Bow Mystery, which was broadcast by BBC Radio 4 in 2006. In 2019, he completed his PhD at the University of Birmingham, with his research focusing on contemporary Jewish Theatre in the UK.
