Sonja Linden is a playwright whose plays have been produced in London and in regional theatres in the UK as well as in the United States and Australia.

In 1997 she became a writer in residence at the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture in London. Her experience motivated her play I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda (2003) and led her to set up the ‘Write to Life’ project, a writing programme for clients of the foundation intended to help torture victims deal with their traumatic experiences. In order to make these voices public she founded the iceandfire theatre company (www.iceandfire.co.uk) in 2003. Linden stepped down as artistic director in 2008 and now acts in a consultative capacity to the company. She has recently created a new company, Visible Theatre, which transcends and celebrates age.

Her works include Call Me Judas (1995), The Jewish Daughter (1997), a sequel to Bertolt Brecht’s The Jewish Wife, Crocodiles Seeking Refuge (2005), The Asylum Monologues (co-written with Christine Bacon, 2006), Palestine Monologues (2010), On a Clear Day You Can See Dover (2010), and Welcome to Ramallah (2014), which she co-authored with Adah Kay.
