Adah Kay was an anthropologist, an urban planner, and an activist who also wrote a play and functioned as executive director for another one. She was born to Russian-Jewish parents in Cambridge in 1943. Kay was brought up in the North West of London in a Zionist tradition and became an anti-Zionist in later life. She received a B.A. in Sociology from Bristol University and an M.A. in Planning from the London School of Economics.
Her first play Welcome to Ramallah (co-written with Sonja Linden) premiered at the Arcola Theatre in London and the Theatre Royal in York in 2008. In 2014, she was executive director of the play Who Do We Think We Are? which performed at the Southwark Playhouse. With Nadia Abu-Zahra she co-authored the book Unfree in Palestine: Registration, Documentation and Movement Restriction (2013).
Kay died in 2014.
