He was educated at Manchester University and City University, London, and holds a PhD from Westminster University. Sierz is author of a number of books on theatre, including <em>In-Yer-Face Theatre: British Drama Today<\/em>&nbsp;(2001),&nbsp;<em>The Theatre of Martin Crimp<\/em>&nbsp;( 2006),&nbsp;<em>John Osborne\u2019s Look Back in Anger<\/em>&nbsp;(2008),&nbsp;<em>Rewriting the Nation: British Theatre Today<\/em>&nbsp;(2011), and&nbsp;<em>Modern British Playwriting: The 1990s<\/em>&nbsp;(2012). With Lia Ghilardi, he co-authored <em>The Time Traveller&#8217;s Guide to British Theatre: The First Four Hundred Years<\/em> (2015). Sierz is editor of <em>The Methuen Drama Book of 21st Century British Plays<\/em>&nbsp;(2010) and&nbsp;<em>Contemporary English Plays<\/em>&nbsp;(2015), and co-editor of&nbsp;<em>The Methuen Drama Guide to Contemporary British Playwrights<\/em>&nbsp;(2011). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aleks Sierz works as theatre critic for the Tribune, and writes reviews for The Arts Desk and The Stage.&nbsp;He has also written for The Sunday Times, The Independent, and The Telegraph. As a theatre critic, Sierz has written numerous reviews of plays, including <a href=\"https:\/\/britishjewishtheatre.org\/?page_id=549\">Stephen Laughton&#8217;s<\/a> <em>One Jewish Boy<\/em>.  He is visiting professor at Rose Bruford College of Theatre &amp; Performance, and has previously taught at Goldsmiths College. Sierz teaches courses on postwar British theatre, playwriting and culture, as well as on literature&nbsp;and the arts for Boston University&#8217;s &#8220;Study Abroad&#8221; Programme in London. He is also a co-investigator for the research project &#8220;British Theatre in the Twenty-First Century: Crisis, Affect, Community&#8221; at Barcelona University.
