{"id":1782,"date":"2018-11-23T11:55:09","date_gmt":"2018-11-23T11:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/britishjewishtheatre.org\/?page_id=1782"},"modified":"2019-05-29T13:34:44","modified_gmt":"2019-05-29T13:34:44","slug":"barritt-paul","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/britishjewishtheatre.org\/?page_id=1782","title":{"rendered":"Barritt, Paul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paul Barritt is the co-founder and co-artistic director of 1927,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0a London-based performance company that specialises in combining performance and live music with animation and film.\u00a0<\/span>For 1927, he has co-created, animated, and designed the highly acclaimed theatre shows like<i>\u00a0<\/i><i>Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea <\/i>(2007)<i>, The Animals and Children Took to the Streets<\/i> (2010)<i>, The Magic Flute <\/i>(2012)\u00a0with Komische Oper Berlin<i> <\/i>and<i> Golem<\/i> (2014)<i>.\u00a0<\/i><i><\/i>In<i> Golem, <\/i>writer and director <a href=\"https:\/\/britishjewishtheatre.org\/?page_id=1161\">Suzanne Andrade<\/a> turns the Jewish myth of the clay monster into a modern day commentary on consumer capitalism.\u00a0For his work on <em>Golem<\/em> with 1927, Paul Barritt won the Critic\u2019s Circle Award for best design and the coveted Knight of the Illumination award for best projection. Outside of 1927, his short film <i>White Morning<\/i> (2013) played in many of the major film festivals including Sundance, Melbourne International film Festival and London Short Film Festival. He also lectures in Animation and Illustration at Middlesex University.
